Throwing A Baby Shower
Throwing A Baby Shower

How many Baby Showers are exactly the same? Everyone meets at someone’s house, sits in uncomfortable chairs, eats finger sandwiches and watches the mom-to-be open presents, all the while bored out of their minds. Why not put a new twist on Baby Showers and get creative? Below are tips on throwing a unique shower the guest of honor and guests will never forget and never be able to duplicate!
1. Most showers are at a sister or friends house. Chairs are set up in a circle and food is displayed on a kitchen table. People come in, drop their gift, grab a seat and wait. Many chat with other guests, all the while waiting for the opening frenzy to begin. Why not spice up the day with a unique experience for the mom-to-be and her guests.
Pamper the mom-to-be with a spa experience. Local spas offer packages for parties. They can be as extensive as massages for the entire party or choices of manicures and pedicures. Many spas allow food and beverages to be brought in by the hostess, offering your guests a relaxing day at the spa, while the mom-to-be gets one last day of pampering before 2 am feedings and diaper changes. A great experience for mom and her guests. One no one will ever forget.
2. Baby Showers generally don’t offer much entertainment. Watching the mom-to-be open presents and chatting with other guests top the list. Bringing fun baby-related activities can liven up the party and help the mom-to-be and other moms in the crowd learn something new.
Specialists at local hospitals and massage therapy salons offer baby massage. Hiring a professional to provide a demonstration on how to conduct a baby massage can be a benefit to the mom-to-be and her guests. Plus it provides entertainment for the whole group. It’s like a Tupperware party for new modern moms.
Teach the mom-to-be and shower guests a new technique. Baby carriers are all the rage in chic baby boutiques. Learn the benefits and techniques of baby-wearing with pouches, ring slings, wraps and mei tais.
Go Green! Modern parents are going green every day offering their children products that are made naturally and help protect the environment. Find a local baby boutique that carries organic baby products like clothes, toys, bedding and furniture. Have them showcase the products and explain why they are better for baby, parent and the environment. Everyone can raise a helping hand for the earth!
Every parent should learn about infant CPR. Why not incorporate it you’re your shower? Learn while you gather with friends to celebrate the new bundle of joy on the way. An infant CPR class is perfect for parents, grandparents, babysitters and everyone responsible for the care of an infant or child.
3. Finally, after the wonderfully entertaining activities or pampering session come the gifts. Of course, moms-to-be want everything on their registry, but why not get them something on their registry with a twist.
Diaper cakes are the new and unique shower gift. A diaper cake is a box of diapers shaped into a layered cake. The diapers are held together by beautiful ribbons, many times blue or pink depending on what the mom-to-be is expecting. Diaper cakes can be more than just diapers. “Cake Toppers” can be stuffed animals, pacifiers, clothes, bottles or other toys. And the icing decorations can be small stuffed animals, bibs, hats, socks, baby blocks spelling the new arrivals name and other small items to dress up the cake. Adorable, unforgettable and useful!
Every mom-to-be needs clothes for their new bundle of joy. A fun twist on giving clothes as a gift is to make a clothes line of clothes. You know, the old fashion twine clothes line with wooden pins. Gather clothes for all four seasons in the size the baby will be for each season. Then pin each piece on the clothes line from the smallest to largest size. Place the clothes line in the bag or box, folding each piece on top of the other. When the mom-to-be opens the gift they will have to pull out the clothes line, letting everyone see the creative way to present clothes to the new mom. Adorable!
Just a few tips to make sure the guest of honor enjoys her shower, and her friends and family do too!

Mother is throwing me Baby Shower, need help on a gift for her.?
My mom is throwing me a Baby Shower on Sept 13th and I want to get her a thank you gift but I want it to be sentimental. She has helped me out so much and has bought so many things for the baby already, if it wasnt for her I dont know what I do so I want it to be special. Does anyone have any suggestions??
You could make her a mother/daughter scrap book, full of pictures and mementos from your childhood with her. And then at the end you could include a letter, or even just a list, of all of the valuable things she has taught you about being a good mother.
