Baby Shower Activities And Games
A baby is the greatest gift that a couple can ever receive. As parents-to-be, you want to welcome the new member of the family with great joy. You want to share the feeling of happiness and excitement with your family and friends. And what could be the best way to share that feeling but through a Baby Shower!
Baby shower got its name which means “showering” of love and gifts for the mom-to-be. So this could be a venue to help you relieve financial burden from buying some baby stuff, as you will be receiving gifts from your guests. And the person busy preparing for the party is usually a close friend or a relative.
Holding a baby party started in the late eighteen hundreds where only women celebrate the moment with the mom-to-be over a tea. As time goes by, this has become more glamorous and men have taken part in it. However, there are still existing cultures where infant shower is considered as a bad luck. If you are the organizer, check first with the expectant parents if they have such beliefs.
In some countries, this party is held after the baby’s birth. This is somehow advantageous for the guests because it will be easier for them to buy gifts appropriate for the gender of the baby. However, the new parents are very busy during this time and they have already bought all the needs of the baby.
Organizing a baby party can be elegant or casual and whatever way you want to have it set, you have to coordinate every detail of it. Just like all other events and parties, you need to prepare the guest lists, send out the invitations, decorate the venue, coordinate the games and activities, and prepare the menu and so on.
A baby shower allows you to celebrate with family, friends and relatives the upcoming arrival of your baby. The key to a successful baby shower is not having a special talent but a good planning and coordination and it includes timeline and budget.

I’m throwing a rather large baby shower (about 100 people). I dislike Baby Shower Games just as much as the next person, but can anyone recommend “activities” for this large of a crowd? Or, if you have any ideas in general for this type of shower. Thanks!!
What about cute decorations…it’s a boy.
Some Activities:
♥ Get someone to write down everything the mom to be says when she opens her presents. At the end of the night say ‘This is what was said the night the baby was conceived’ and then list everything she said.
It’ll be like:
‘OO I always wanted one of these’
‘Wow, that’s so tiny’
‘Aww look at it, it’s pink’
stuff like that..you’ll have everyone rolling with laughter.
♥ As everyone arrives, hand them a note card or a sheet of paper with lines on it. Tell them this is for the mom to be. They need to write a piece of advice on it for her. I had this done at my shower and it was greatly appreciated. Also, you can buy alot of note cards cheap so its good for large groups of people.
♥ Also you can have the guests do above on one side and have them turn it over and have them guess how much they think baby will weight, height, and if they think it’ll be a boy or girl (if they dont know yet)
♥ Also, Karaoke is fun. You can have people nursery rhymes to a beat or however you choose.
Decorations:
If it’s a boy, I’d use the under the sea theme. Blow up Clear and Blue Balloons and scatter them everywhere. Get fish shaped balloons helium filled and place them in corners of the room. On one wall hang up a fish net and place fake, fish, seaweed, octupus, bottles, starfish, etc. in the net. Use tissue paper to make coral and place it on the bottom of the walls. As for the cake, some thing like thishttp://entertaining.about.com/od/cakebragbook/ig/Cakes-for-Little-Kid-Birthdays/Treasure-Chest-Birthday-Cake.htm or http://www.cathysconfections.com/Individual%20Cakes/Under%20The%20Sea%20Cake.htm Drape table with different shades of blue tableclothes and place a fishbowl of water in the middle with a single goldfish in it (they are cheap). Or you can use floating candles. In snack dishes on the tables, fill them with rainbows Goldfish crackers. Also along the bottom of the wall you can make a cardboard anchor and place it there and make a false chain going up to the top of the wall. So decorate as if you were actually under the sea.
Good Luck and have fun! =)
