Babyshower Ideas

Any ideas for a Babyshower theme that is not frilly, but modern?

No idea if girl or boy.Basicaly, I’m giving a shower for my best friend who is very materialistic I guess, name brand everything. She doesn’t want like Disney, or Noah’s ark, etc. So, needed a couple idea’s for a more modern theme for her shower.

Animals are always a good bet if the gender is a mystery. I’m not that well versed on “materialism”, but you may want to put more effort into games than gifts and themed decorations. A fun couples game is a clothespin game. You take the couple and blindfold one partner. Then somebody, the hostess or a volunteer, places a set number of clothespins (perhaps 5) on each of the unblindfolded partners. The blindfolded one has a certain time limit, one or two minutes, to try to find all the clothespins on their partner without any hints. You can then reverse partners places for another round. Word searches, scrambles, and other written games are good timekillers for inbetween games, or during the gift opening if there are many people there. A more risque game is “pin the sperm on the egg” if this is an adult party.

If they don’t need a lot of baby things, you could make it a “pamper the parents” party for a definitely more modern theme. They won’t be getting much time to themselves after baby comes, so they should enjoy their time together while they have it.
