Baby Shower Planning Etiquette

Baby Shower Planning Etiquette

When looking for unique items for your Baby Shower decorations, try to look for the original in normal everyday things. Normal everyday things when related to a baby shower includes all things baby related, such as diapers, bottles, nuknuks, cribs, baby blankets and even toys.

It easy to pick up some large stuffed animals to place in the corners at your Baby Shower Party and afterwards they can be sent home with the parents. Smaller stuffed animals can even be set up as a centerpiece on the buffet table. Baby bottles placed casually around the party or even tied with a piece of string and hung from the ceiling really add to the baby shower atmosphere.

If you are interested in a little challenge you can experiment with using balloons to make balloon babies. This one would take a little skill, but you can add to them by dressing them up in disposable diapers.

Those who are big fans of using traditional balloons, streamers and confetti can still use them in a unique way. One easy way of doing this is by picking out a color theme thatÂ’s unusual for a baby shower. This theme can be black and white to hearken back to the idea of black and white photos. You can even take pictures at the event using black and white film in your camera. When you have them developed make up a little photo album and the photos themselves will always remind the parents of your special party theme.

Picking out a neon pink or blue color for the party theme if you happen to know the gender of the baby can add a unique flavor to the party. Have the party in the evening and hand out appropriately colored glow sticks. You can even get the larger ones and use them in decoration around the party area.

Can i plan my own baby shower if I’ve been horribly let down by ‘friends’?

My best friend had offered to throw my baby shower and i was under the impression it was ready to go. She said she would drop off the invites for me to distribute to family last week, then she said she was too busy so she would do it a few days later, now everytime i phone she says she’s too busy. I offered to go pick them up and she says she doesnt have them now she wont take my calls or return my messages. I suspect she hasnt actually organised a thing. I know its considered bad etiquette to organise my own but the shower was supposed to be in 3 weeks & i’ve told all my friends and family who are expecting one, and now i’m considering organising one myself with my mom. Is this acceptable?

I would tell her you are doing your own with your Mom since she seems too busy. This is perfectly fine considering your Mom is doing it too so she can be like the host. That is what my friend did. Her Mom hosted it but my friend really planned the whole thing. Just make sure your Mom knows everything so that you can relax at least a bit on that day and don’t have to run everything!
