I need help decorating a princess themed Baby Shower!?

My best friend is having a Baby Shower tomorrow evening and my mum decided she would go and buy decorations without me, and nevertheless they were less than agreeable! The problem is that the shower is NOT disney princess themed so i pretty much have to make everything myself. (i already looked at party city, so please dont suggest it) The color themes are pastel pink and lavendar. Your help would be greatly appreciated! thank you!
i’m the hostess. i already told my mum to take them back, thats not a problem, the problem is trying to come up with decorating ideas when i only have till tonight to begin making them. I need inventive, creative, brilliant decorating ideas!

Here’s a site with a pretty cake. If you don’t have time to make a cake, you can also try getting one from a local store (Vons cakes are really good if you choose the real whipped cream icing) and have them make it just white or white with a bit of pink and lavender airbrushing. Then you can add decorations like a tiara and edible glitter, etc.

If you have a Michael’s in your area… They sell wooden cutouts of crowns. You could paint them and maybe glue on jewels or add glitter… Try to keep it simple for a more elegant look. Use these as place markers or glue them onto hurricanes and put candles in the center for the middle of the tables. Really, you don’t need tons of themed items — just enough to hint at the theme. Keep the rest simple and elegant.

You can decorate the tables with pink or lavender table clothes and then drape tulle or chiffon over the top (tulle is cheaper). Place tiaras around the bottom of vases of flowers (Trader Joe’s has great fresh cut flowers at reasonable prices). Wal Mart has inexpensive vases. You can buy inexpensive rings (like kids would use for dress up) and use them as napkin rings.

If you can find a canopy (usually available at the discount stores near kids bedding) you can hang it from the ceiling above a round table and place the cake in the center of the table. Just make sure the canopy drapes the table instead of hanging onto it. This type…

I’m sure you could even make one with an embroidery hoop, some ribbons, and tulle.

You can tear pages out of princess storybooks and laminate them to use as place mats.

Cut out the shape of the back of a crown from a large piece of cardboard. Decorate it and add it to the back of a chair to make a special seat for the mom-to-be.

Best wishes. I’m in your boat, I think — We’re having a birthday party for our daughter Sunday and I’m just starting on everything today. I thrive under pressure, I guess.
