If you, or someone you know, are holding an awesome 80s party soon, here’s a list of ten essential props and costumes that I have found, for $10 or less, and you can recreate that 80s magic!
10. Yoda, Wookie or Darth Vader, Star Wars Plush Toy – Great for an 80s prop. Place on the table, or in a key place around the party.
9. 80s Movie or 80s Music poster – These were essential part of our bedroom walls in the 80s, as well as your 80s party.
8. Party Decorations – Balloons, Cake party foil confetti and/or My little Pony Party Hats. Cheap as chips at only a few dollars.
7. Fingerless lace gloves – Now you too can be Getting into the Groove, Suddenly seeking Susan and a Material Girl!
6. Yo yo – Extra, extra Kudo brownie Points if you can actually find a “The Real Thing”, cola company branded yo yo! No, seriously!!
5. Studded punk rocker wrist strap, necklace and/or belt. Dress as an 80s punk rocker, raise your fist, singing Mony Mony!
4. 80s Hair accessories: Banana Clips, Scrunchies, headbands and/or lace. Great for big, teased and curly hair.
3. 80s Jewellery: Dangley earrings and faux pearl necklaces. Make sure you include the cross if you are wearing fingerless gloves.
2. 80s Accessories: Skinny tie, piano tie, leggings, leg warmers and fluro socks. These will always be a hit, and really enhance your 80s costume.
1. The genuine Rubiks Cube on a key chain. This, my friends, will entertain your friends for hours, and be a great 80s prop or game prize at your 80s party.
Well there you go. I really should have made it top twenty, as I certainly missed a few, including the Karate Kid Miyagi Dojo headband. Never mind.
