Baby Shower question?

I recently moved, and we are traveling 700 miles back to my home town where my sisters are throwing me a baby shower. Due to the outrageous gas prices, we plan on driving our car and not our SUV like we had earlier planned. Is it rude of my sisters to include something in the invitations stating that if people planned on buying larger items, that they purchase a gift card instead, and then make a note of what they’d like us to get with that card? We are expecting twins, and are having a large shower….we just don’t know how we’ll get everything back in our car. Any suggestions on how to word it in the invitations would be appreciated as well. TIA.

Have them state the facts. I have attended a wedding shower where they requested gift cards for the same reason. The couple lived nearly 1000 miles away from us, and there was no way to get all that stuff back home.
