Throwing a Baby Shower for a friend or family member can be fun and rewarding. For someone who has never done it before, it can also be a daunting challenge. Wanting everything to come together as a happy event to be remembered for years to come is natural. Make a list of everything needed, then follow the plan for a successful event.

Surprises

The first thing to decide is whether or not the mother-to-be will know about it. Surprises can be powerful and exhilarating when pulled off right. The most difficult part is to do it in secret without the event backfiring. The worst fear of a hostess is that the unsuspecting guest of honor will not show up for her own party.

The second fear is that someone will accidentally let the cat out of the bag and tell the guest of honor. If the event is a surprise, have a foolproof plan for getting her to the party and enlist the help of a close friend or relative to secure her attendance.

When the mother-to-be knows about the Baby Shower, planning it is easier. Ask her to choose from two or three dates you suggest and find out at which stores she has registered. Consulting her opinion on party details is up to the hostess. The element of surprise can still be used by keeping the finer points a secret.

Pick a Date

Once a date has been determined, do not change it. There will always be guests that cannot come. Choose a time that allows people who work regular schedules to attend. Weekend afternoons are usually most convenient.

Set a Budget

Parties don’t have to be expensive. Use cheap baby shower decorations and a free location, such as someone’s home. Game and door prizes can be homemade crafts or custom creations bought in stores or online.

Choose a Theme

A common theme for baby shower decorations centers around repetitive colors, patterns and features. The invitations, tablecloths, streamers, banners and favors should all coordinate. Cups, plates, napkins and utensils should match, as well.

Invitations

Create a guest list. If the guest of honor knows about it, ask her for any suggestions. If not, enlist the help of other friends and family members to make sure no one of note is left out. Don’t forget co-workers, church groups, neighbors and extended relatives. Include important information on the invitation aside from the basics, such as gift registry, RSVP contact, the theme and whether the event is a surprise.

Favors

Choose small gifts that each guest can take home as a memento of the baby shower. They should be delicate and eye-catching. Edible treats, personal items or useful things are all acceptable. Wrap them in a bundle or box that coordinates with the theme

Food

Decide what type of food to have, whether it will be lunch, dinner, appetizers or breakfast. Buffets are the easiest to manage unless the party is catered. Give considerations to guests who may have dietary restrictions, and try to have at least a few items suitable for diabetics and vegetarians. Don’t forget the drinks.

Decorations

What sets the tone for the event are the decorations for the baby shower. They should transform the room and create a festive atmosphere. Use crepe paper, banners, wall hangings, tablecloths and balloons. Buy or borrow a bassinet to put all of the gifts into for the guest of honor. Be sure to have comfortable chair for the guest of honor to sit in while opening gifts. It should be something easy to get in and out of without extra help.

Games

Plan to play a handful of games as ice breakers and entertainment. Vary the types. They should not all be guessing games or book activities. Provide small prizes for the winners. These can be homemade or store-bought generic items that most women would use or enjoy. Wrap them up like a present and allow the winner to choose which package they would like.

were can i find snow white Baby Shower Theme cakes and decorations?

im Planning A Baby Shower and i cant find a website that has snow white and the seven dwarfs theme decorations.im also looking for a nice cake. that is related to snow white of course.
please help{need to plan shower SOON!!!}
thanks so much!

Okay there is not a whole lot out there. I found a site that is selling Snow White invites and party supplies….it looks more like a birthday set but I am sure it can be utilized in a way where no one will know. So there are your decorations…..or a start.

Cake: Cake America is a directory of all the cake makers (that have registered). You might want to check them out and see if you can find someone in your area that can craft a custom desert for you that is true to this theme. I am putting the website below. I also found another website that has “castle” decorating supplies for a plain white, two tier cake. That link is below as well!

More Decorations: Diaper Cake? I actually make these and would love to make one that was true to this theme. I do mostly custom work and haven’t found a theme I can’t stay true to, yet!! Simple would be a plush Snow White on top with 7 fashioned plaques circling the middle tier….each with a dwarf’s name (like the beds had their names carved into them). You could even do the diaper cake yourself….show off your CREATIVE side.

Recipes: You must feature apples. Apples should really be present on the buffet or menu. Look for menu items like stuffed apples…maybe even an Apple Pie?

**Hope these links help. Don’t forget about Ebay, you can always find hard to stuff find there!**
