What is some recipe ideas for a Baby Shower?

I am co-hosting a Baby Shower this weekend and we are having it at 10:30 in the morning so we were thinking about having just a brunch type meal, such as light breakfast foods but we are open to just about any suggestions. Thanks!

Ok this is a little time consuming but is always a big hit at Baby Showers. Sounds perfect for the time of day you are giving the shower too.

It’s called: Sandwich Loaf

Ingredients:
16 slices of bread (crust cut off)
Mayo
Ham slices (lunch meat)
Cheese slices (from the deli)
Egg salad

2 lbs. of cream cheese
1-2 tbls milk
red or blue food coloring

Take 4 slices of uncrusted bread and lay them end to end in a row…put mayo on all 4 slices then put a layer of cheese 2-3 pieces high, then another layer of bread and mayo, then the layer of ham 3 pieces high, again another layer of bread and mayo, then the egg salad, then your last layer of bread.
Now take the 2 lbs of softened cream cheese and beat with the milk…Now add food coloring (food coloring: red= pink and blue of course= baby blue) and beat. Cover/icing the sandwich loaf in the whipped cream cheese mixture and refrigerate, until the cream cheese firms back up. (also for a little extra flavor you can add a little brine from a jar of stuffed green olives).
If you know what the baby will be you can make just one of the colors….if not I usually make two of these loaves anyhow and make one pink one and one blue one. Also a good idea is to cut off the end of the sandwich loaf so people can see that it is NOT CAKE…which is what most people assume. Good luck ….I know its a little time consuming but I promise it will be a big hit!!
