Baby Shower Activities For Men
Baby Shower Activities For Men

These days, men are becoming more and more involved in the wedding planning process. Why not go one step further? “Man Showers” are becoming more and more popular, as men get their own version of the bridal shower.
In the past, women did most of the planning when it came to the big event, and women benefited from the pre-ceremony shower. She received household and personal gifts on behalf of her future husband and herself. Increasingly, people started noticing how the groom tends to be left out of these. In an effort to include the groom, the “man shower” idea was born.
A bridal shower features the future bride getting together with her female friends and family to play games, and receive gifts. It’s becoming increasingly popular for men to have their own groom shower, as a daytime activity to get together with his male friends in the same manner. The event has the benefit of allowing underage friends and family (who would be secluded from a bachelor party) to celebrate in the pre-wedding ceremonies.
Man showers tend to be less structured than the female version, without the planned games and getting-to-know-each-other activities. They tend to take place during the day, possibly at a restaurant or centered around a sporting event. Whether the shower involves a poker night or a baseball game, the keyword is casual.
Gifts are the basis around holding a shower, so what do you get for the groom-to-be? Chances are, blenders and dish towels aren’t going to thrill the groom. Some ideas for good man shower gifts could include electronics, like iPods and video games, tools, grills, or even sports equipment. Think of items the groom will enjoy that also relate to the married couple, items both will benefit from. Just as with bridal showers, joke gifts can go over well and break the ice amongst friends and family who are not yet acquainted.
The main purpose of a shower (for either gender) is to celebrate and help prepare for an upcoming marriage ceremony. Another goal is to acquaint two merging families. When planning the shower, don’t forget the other side of the family (the bride’s family for the man shower and vice versa).
A “Man Shower” can actually refer to the male version of a Baby Shower, too. Equality between the sexes favors both genders, and this latest growing trend celebrates a man’s role in an upcoming nuptial ceremony or birth. In most cases, the male and female versions are quite similar, though men’s showers tend to be more casual. Both events, however, achieve the same goal – celebrating an upcoming wedding or birth. Making the event memorable can guarantee success!

What activites can we have for men at a baby ‘shower?’?
I am throwing a baby party that is co-ed. Were trying to find an ‘activity’ for the men to do so that they are included in the shower. It is going to be a chic, cocktail type shower and we thought about doing a poker table or a cigar roller, but were looking for a few more ideas. Any help would be great!!! Thanks!
First of all… THE AVERAGE GUY HATES Baby Showers… We find them extremely boring. We do not get excited over a cute little outfit, or bath set…. snooze city
Having said that. Give us something that interests us. Pretty much any activity that gives men a chance to compete and win prizes. My sister had competitions like:
- who can put a diaper on a teddybear blindfolded the fastest
- who can drink a half bottle the quickest without using hands
- poker always works well (but then the men are more separate)
- etc, ect
Hope this helps
