You can more or less rely on the fact that at sometime in your life you are likely to have reason to celebrate and throw a party. When you are young, of course, all this involves is making sure your parents are not around and encouraging your friends to come over and bring a bottle of their favorite tipple and maybe a few nibbles. However, as you get older, holding a party becomes an occasion which needs special care and attention in order to ensure the event goes exactly as planned.

As you would anticipate, there’s a right and wrong way of going about things and the expectations of your guests plays a big part in your party planning. But there is no need for despair – you will discover everything you need to know about throwing a party right here in this article.

First of all, consider what kind of party you want to throw. If it’s for a specific occasion such as a birthday, a graduation or a holiday you will need to think about the average age of the guests you are inviting to the party and the total number of invitees.Having this information to hand will help you enormously with the decisions you need to take about the party planning in general.

Bearing in mind the age group of your guests you can then come up with some activities to keep them entertained. An example of this is if you plan to have young children and infants there on the day they will need something to keep them occupied. In order to work out how many party supplies you need, you will have to set yourself a budget for the party and it is important that you stick within this amount.

The majority of people use invitations to let their guests know they are invited to a party and such invitations come in all manner of different methods, designs and styles. You can choose whether to mail your invitations, let everyone know by email, or hand them out as and when you see the people you would like to come along. On the other hand, if your party is an open house, then all you need to do is rely on word of mouth and the news will spread like wildfire. With the dawning of on line invitation sending there is a website called evite which will put out invitations to all your guests simply by signing up for a free account and providing the site with the email addresses of those you wish to attend.

Details are supplied to you from evite which let you know the amount of people who have replied to the invitation and any message they may have left, as well as how many have actually looked at the invitation but not yet responded.

Depending on the time of year you wish to have your party, the location is extremely important. If it’s to be outdoors you need to think about shade for a sunny day in the same way as you have to consider there may be the odd shower.

If you plan to use your own home or rent a specific venue you need to make sure there will be enough room for your guests to feel comfortable and space to allow them to move around freely and mingle with the other guests. There is an obvious advantage of using a rented venue and this is that the setting up and clearing away is done for you. Although you have to pay for it, you will save so much preparation time when compared to using your own place, not to mention the fact that in your own home you have to put far more effort into playing the perfect host or hostess. The responsibility is taken from your shoulders affording you the luxury of enjoying yourself so much more.

Once you have decided on where you are going to hold your party, you need to work out how much food you will need for your guests. This is never an easy task but it is essential that food is on offer and the amount you will need all depends on whether you intend to sit your guests down for a full dinner or let them help themselves to a buffet style meal.Take your budget into account when deciding if you are to make the food yourself or if you can stretch to taking up the services of professional caterers? It’s worth noting that parties are remembered by the food and it is a subject many people talk about after the event.

These are just a few tips to help you when you are planning a party. They are, of course, only the basics but they will help you get started and with a little practice you will soon discover you are becoming more and more of a party planning expert as the years go by.

Invitation wording help!!!?

I am planning a shower for a family member that is not only a open house wedding reception (they got married in a private wedding ceremony earlier this year) but also, they are expecting their first child so it will be a Baby Shower also. What are some ideas on how you would word it? It is a very casual party and everyone is just looking to have a good time.

“They’re expecting a baby,
a new bundle of joy, after their wonderful wedding! Come celebrate them with best wishes.”
Hope this is what you are looking for! :)
